The 52nd Trofeo Conde de Godó BMW Crowns Its Champions

The 52nd edition of the Trofeo Conde de Godó BMW was hosted by Real Club Nautico de Barcelona starting May 28 through June 1, 2025. Champions were crowned after a thrilling final day, which featured the last two races of the event. The winners: Aproperties Blue Carbon (ORC 0), Soler Cabot (ORC 1), Windwhisper44 (ORC 2), Falapouco (ORC 3), Lassal (ORC 4-5), Shaka (ORC A Dos), Odysseus (Promoción), Noticia (J70), and RCNB (Godó Women’s Cup).

After Saturday’s session, when only one race could be held due to light wind, Sunday delivered better conditions with winds between 9 and 12 knots. That allowed for two final races, which brought some last-minute changes to the rankings in several classes.

Aproperties Blue Carbon, skippered by Toni Guiu, won in ORC 0 after leading from start to finish. It was a close call, however, as the Italian boat Lisa R came within one point ahead of the final race. But the RCN Barcelona boat held strong, won the last race, and sealed the victory.

In ORC 1, the duel between the two DK46s, Soler Cabot and HM Hospitales, was intense. Two first-place finishes on the final day by Soler Cabot, skippered by Luis Martínez Doreste, secured the title by a single point ahead of Oscar Chaves’s team, which had led for the first two days.

In ORC 2, the Polish team aboard Windwhisper44, skippered by Joan Navarro, won four of the five races and sat out the last one thanks to the discard rule. Es Tes Unno…, skippered by Xisco Soldevila, claimed second overall with consistent results.

Falapouco, skippered by Andrés Manresa, took the win in ORC 3 after a strong battle with the Italian Sarchiapone Fuoriserie, which had tied the overall lead after winning the penultimate race. However, Falapouco came back to win the final race and finish two points ahead.

In ORC 4-5, Lassal, skippered by Gonzalo Calvo, repeated his 2024 win but couldn’t maintain a perfect record, winning four of five races. El Travieso, skippered by Ángel Blázquez, claimed one race win and finished second overall.

The ORC A Dos fleet, which raced two long offshore legs—Thursday to Palamós and Saturday to Blanes—was won by Shaka, skippered by Ivan Olivé and Toni Pozo, who overtook early leader Korrigan 4, sailed by Joan Balaguer.  In the Mixed category, the winner was Salao Tú, sailed by Manuel López and Mariam Vilajoana.

In the Promoción class—making its debut in the Trofeo Conde de Godó BMW and racing only coastal courses—the victory went to Odysseus, skippered by Juan Meseguer. Nuba II, helmed by Maite Sierra, finished second.

The J70 one-design class delivered a thrilling and tightly contested finale, with the top three boats tied at 16 points. Noticia, skippered by Luis Martín Cabiedes, emerged victorious, with Yupi, skippered by Joan Cardona, in second and HangTen, helmed by Món Cañellas, in third.

In the Godó Women’s Cup, RCNB, helmed by Olympic medalist Natàlia Via-Dufresne, dominated with a clear victory. The fight was on for the remaining podium spots, with RCNGC skippered by Isabel Hernández taking second.

The Real Club Náutico de Barcelona paid tribute to Javier Godó, Conde de Godó, presenting him with a commemorative plaque in appreciation of the Godó family’s long-standing support of the club and the regatta. Javier Godó served as president of RCNB from 1996 to 2003. The plaque was presented by Félix Escalas, also a former RCNB president.

Organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona with the collaboration of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the Catalan Sailing Federation, the 52nd Conde de Godó BMW Sailing Trophy is sponsored by BMW and supported by La Vanguardia, the Barcelona City Council, and the Government of Catalonia.
