Supporting Staff Development

Royal Cape Yacht Club is proud to support the professional development of its staff members. One of our dedicated employees in the Back of House Team, Aretha Xabane, who has been working at the club for the past 16 years, has recently been given the opportunity to further her education in the culinary field. Aretha has worked her way up Kitchen Hand, Commi Chef and is now Chef de Partie in charge of the Cold Section in the Kitchen. To officiate her role, it was time to get the right qualification under her belt.

The club has enrolled Aretha at Sense of Taste Chef School to expand her knowledge and skills in professional cooking. This training will allow her to gain a deeper understanding of food safety, kitchen equipment, knife skills, and food preparation techniques.

Aretha’s commitment and years of service have made her a valued member of the team. By supporting her studies, the club continues to invest in staff development and in maintaining high standards in the hospitality industry. Aretha is the second member of our Back of House Team to attend this course as the first was Aretha’s senior, Head Chef de Partie, Sylvia Sisayi. Sylvie passed with flying colours back in October last year.
