Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron wins Club of the Year 2026

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron has once again picked up Club of the Year at the Queensland Awards for Excellence by Clubs Queensland. “We work quietly but extremely diligently to ensure our club remains a friendly, self-sufficient, and welcoming environment for its 4000+ Members, their guests, and visitors, who all share a common love of water and boating,” said RQYS Chief Executive Officer Karen Baldwin. “It is no small coincidence that we have won this award for the third time now, in addition to our win for Marina of the Year – Club of the Year in 2025.”

The Clubs Queensland and McCain Foods Awards for Excellence recognise outstanding performance and innovation within registered clubs across the state.  The event combines a trade show by day with the gala celebration by night, offering a full week of engagement for attendees.

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron was also a finalist for Queensland’s Sports Club of the Year, but just missed out this time to the deserving The Waves Sports Club Bundaberg.

With its origins commencing in 1885 as the Brisbane Sailing Club, RQYS has continued to grow from strength to strength in its current six hectare site at Manly, east of the Brisbane city centre. It boasts facilities that are of the highest standard in an unrivaled environment on the waters edge, and offers reciprocity to all ICOYC affiliated clubs around the world.
