Ricardo Albiñana elected Vice President of the International Mediterranean Committee

Real Club Náutico de Barcelona celebrates the election of its Vice Commodore, Ricardo Albiñana, as new Vice President of the International Mediterranean Committee (CIM), a leading body in the promotion and regulation of classic sailing in the Mediterranean. The appointment took place on March 19 at Yacht Club de Monaco, during the CIM General Assembly, where the board of directors was renewed for the 2026–2030 term.

Albiñana takes on this responsibility at a key moment for the development and international projection of classic sailing, further strengthening the presence of the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona within the main decision-making bodies of the Mediterranean nautical sector.

A renowned filmmaker and sailor, Ricardo Albiñana has a strong track record linked to the sea. He is the owner of the classic ketch Islander (1937), an active competitor in the classic yacht racing circuit, reinforcing his commitment to the preservation and promotion of this maritime heritage.

At the same assembly, Italian Luigi “Gigi” Rolandi was elected as the new President of CIM, joined by Francesco Foppiano and Ricardo Albiñana as Vice Presidents.

Founded in 1926, CIM is one of the most relevant institutions in promoting offshore racing in the Mediterranean and, for over three decades, has acted as the international federation for classic sailing, bringing together national federations, historic clubs, and class associations.
