Recap from the IQFoil U21 Worlds and Swiss Windsurfing Championships 2023
Windsurfing has exploded in popularity as an Olympic sailing discipline at Verein Seglerhaus am Wannsee (VSaW), in Berlin, Germany, especially since Sophia Meyer became a member of the club.
Meyer competed in the IQFoil U21 World Championship on Lake Silvaplana near St. Moritz from August 21-27. In predominantly fantastic conditions in the Swiss mountains, she placed 5th overall.
In the days leading up to the World Championships, the Swiss Windsurfing Championship took place at the same location from August 17-20, where she competed against 50 participants from seven nations. Only one race could be sailed for the entire regatta, but Sophia finished 14th and won the women’s classification.
Sophia is a teenager who lives for windsurfing.
