Race in the 2024 Rolex China Sea Race

The Rolex China Sea Race made a welcome return in 2023 after a Covid-induced hiatus and Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club is thrilled to announce that sailors don’t have to wait long until the next race!

You are invited to the start line on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Next year marks the 62nd anniversary of this biennial World Sailing Offshore Category 1 race run under the auspices of RORC which takes competitors 565nm across the China Sea to Subic Bay in the Philippines.

As a blue water classic, the Rolex China Sea Race has it all: a spectacular start in Hong Kong’s iconic Victoria Harbour and challenging overnight conditions as you near northern Philippines. Crews return year after year for a blast reach across the China Sea before transitioning into the tactically challenging Luzon Coast and sailing into the pristine waters of Subic Bay for the finish. The net result is that many boats have a chance of lifting the trophy for IRC Overall, depending on how they play their approach to the Philippines.

Holding the Rolex China Sea Race again in 2024 puts the biennial event back on its usual schedule of even years. Plus, with Easter Sunday falling on March 31 instead of late April 2025 this will help ensure northeasterly breeze rather than the summer’s typical southerly.
