The 2023 Rolex Invitational, again hosted by New York Yacht Club with its usual excellence in hospitality on and off the water, will welcome 12 ICOYC Member Clubs, making up nearly two thirds of the field of 20 invited. Two of those are past winners; the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron (RSYS) won the 2019 Regatta, and Southern Yacht Club (SYC) of New Orleans won in 2021. Both are aiming for a repeat.

The full list of ICOYC clubs competing at the 2023 Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup are Norddeutscher Regatta Verein (Germany), Nyländska Jaktklubben (Finland), Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (Spain), Royal Canadian Yacht Club, Royal Cork Yacht Club (Ireland), Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (China), Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Royal Swedish Yacht Club, Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron, Royal Vancouver Yacht Club (Canada), Southern Yacht Club (USA), Yacht Club Punte del Este (Uruguay).

While SYC and RSYS may have the pedigree of being the only two clubs to win an Invitational Cup sailed in the IC37s, they are far from the only clubs with a strong chance of winning the trophy. Of the 20 clubs competing this year, 19 have previously competed in the regatta, and many will be sailing in IC37 events this coming summer to prepare. There’s every reason to believe that the eighth edition of the regatta will be the most competitive yet.
