If you have not experienced a Florida February, you are missing out on sunshine and tremendous sailing! The St. Petersburg Yacht Club is proud to host numerous events to get our members and guests on the water racing.

This year, the season began with the Valentine’s Youth Regatta on February 11 and 12, which saw 300 optimistic sailors descending on St. Petersburg for two days of racing on Tampa Bay. Saturday delivered beautiful southerlies for three races completed in the gold fleet and four races completed in the silver fleet. Sailors were greeted with over 30 knots of breeze on Sunday; unfortunately, too much wind for the group.

As soon as the youth sailors packed up; it was time for the adults! Up next was the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series. This year’s event took place over three days of sailing on February 17-19, with nearly 275 teams from over 14 different classes of boats racing on five courses throughout Tampa Bay. Eight races were completed on the majority of the five courses throughout the weekend in all conditions. Tons of fun was had on and off the water!
