Explore a Future in the Yachting Industry
Training, inspiring and guiding young people are key to Yacht Club de Monaco’s approach as “Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting.” The club is launching its first edition of a Yachting Student Fair on March 21, 2026, for middle school, sixth formers, further education students and graduates to discover yachting and maritime professions. The event kicks off four days dedicated to yachting and exploration, organized with The Explorers Club of New York, a world-renowned institution since 1904.
Throughout the day, training institutions, maritime organizations, yachting professionals and researchers will present their courses and career prospects. The French Maritime Academy ENSM (École Nationale Supérieure Maritime) and the Nautical Institute Academy France will have details on careers as officers and engineers. The high school, Lycée Jacques Dolle d’Antibes, will present its courses on nautical maintenance, electromechanics and propulsion, while the commercial divers institution, École Nationale des Scaphandriers, explains requirements for underwater professions ranging from welding to hyperbaric archaeological operations.
On the yachting front, courses in yacht management, brokerage and onboard hospitality will be presented by YCM’s La Belle Classe Academy training center, the Cluster Yachting Monaco, the Yacht Broker School, the European School of Economics and the high school, Lycée Jeanne & Paul Augier.
Port-related professions from vessel traffic management to technical maintenance are also on the agenda with Monaco’s Department of Maritime Affairs and its port authority, SEPM (Société d’Exploitation des Ports de Monaco). Finally, the demand for skills and expertise will be represented by experts such as the award-winning model maker Hervé Arnoul, Meilleur Ouvrier de France. From technical professions to management, science to design, the sea opens up a wide range of career paths for young people.
The higher education division of Monaco’s Department of National Education will be present to support families post-baccalaureate and help with funding for further education.
The Yachting Student Fair is the perfect opportunity for young people and their parents to ask questions, as well as finding out more about courses available. They can learn about the realities of a profession, and have direct contact with professionals which can open doors to internships, apprenticeships and work experience.
Participants will have a chance to visit several yachts moored in the YCM Marina, including the 31-meter S/Y 7Continent, and meet its owner, Patrick Deixonne, navigator and founder of the 7th Continent Expedition. From his early years as a firefighter to his expeditions in the Amazon, culminating in his 2009 row across the Atlantic, his career illustrates how a career path can evolve. Alongside him, French explorer Luc Hardy, member of the French Explorers Society, will share his experiences in extreme environments. Exchanges like these will help join the dots between training, a profession and making an impact on the world.
Entry is free upon registration.
