Excitement Builds for Topper World Championships

Excitement continues to build at Royal Cork Yacht Club (RCYC) and ITCA Worlds as the 2023 Topper World Championships counts down to its start on July 24.

Organisation commenced in November 2022 and the RCYC Topper Worlds Committee has been hard at work since then, meeting regularly and drawing on the fantastic expertise of staff and volunteers to make this a landmark event on the 2023 calendar.

Young sailors and their families from all over the world will be congregating in Crosshaven in droves. Entries have been incredible: nearly 260 are enrolled with only 40 places remaining.

When the opening parade commences on Sunday, July 23, the flags of many nations will be proudly displayed as the entrants make their way to Crosshaven house to be officially welcomed to Cork.

Royal Cork is proud to be associated with ITCA and this vibrant sailing class that provides children from all backgrounds and cultures with competition, camaraderie, fun and inclusivity, as they start their lives in the sport of sailing.

Situated in the environment of our beautiful Cork Harbour and following national and regional events to seed the fleet, the races will be run over five days. With staggered starts for multiple fleets, our expert International Race Team will take charge to ensure fair and equitable racing. The focus of all racing at RCYC is always on safe, competitive racing, and we hope to provide good memories that will last a lifetime.

Once ashore, the fun doesn’t stop there. For sailors and families alike, the emphasis on togetherness continues with evening games, good food and entertainment to ensure a great time will be had by all.
RCYC looks forward to seeing you at what promises to be a wonderful event.
