Clubhouse Among Top 5 Most Energy-Efficient Buildings
The Yacht Club de Monaco earned a key distinction at the MonaCube competition, held on October 14, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Lycée Rainier III. Launched by the Department of Equipment, Environment and Urban Planning, this competition aims to encourage public and community organizations in the Principality to reduce their energy consumption. Among the 23 participating buildings, the Yacht Club de Monaco clubhouse ranked 5th, with 8.9% energy savings achieved in one year, representing 303 MWh saved.
This result is in line with the Yacht Club de Monaco’s commitment to responsible energy management, combining environmental performance and operational excellence. In a site equipped with cooling units, centralized technical management, photovoltaic panels and high-intensity equipment, this reduction is testament to precise and rigorous management.

An energy strategy based on precision and coordination
Throughout the monitoring year (July 2024 – June 2025), the technical teams at the Yacht Club de Monaco carried out the following work:
- optimisation of air handling unit control, with start-up adjusted according to the event schedule;
- deliberately shutting down a cooling unit to reduce winter consumption;
- automatically adjusting pumps to achieve savings of up to 20%;
- installing UV-protective film on windows to improve thermal comfort while reducing air conditioning requirements;
- reducing lighting hours in certain areas with low footfall.
Sustained internal communication, combined with pragmatic awareness-raising among teams and service providers, has helped maintain the energy efficiency balance at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
On average, all participants in the MonaCube competition achieved 7% energy savings, representing nearly 900 MWh and 73 tonnes of CO2 avoided in one year. The Yacht Club de Monaco intends to continue along this path, consolidating its management practices and exploring new avenues for improvement: developing renewable energies, strengthening energy monitoring and transparently communicating results to its members and visitors.
