Chicago Yacht Club was well represented in a fleet of 71 boats competing in the J/70 World Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina, hosted by Yacht Club Argentino October 27 through November 1, 2025.

Team Norboy, led by CYC Vice Commodore Laura Seigmond and Past Commodore and ICOYC President Leif Seigmond, took first place in the Mixed Plus Division. Norboy’s crew included Collin Kirby and CYC member and former Olympic sailor Stephanie Roble.

Also racing for CYC was member Taylor Canfield, serving as tactician aboard Dark Energy, helmed by Laura Grondin, who made history as the first helmswoman to win first place overall. Other CYC member competitors included John Heaton and Will Felder on Empeiria in sixth place overall, and Rich Witzel on Rowdy in ninth.
