Barcelona Finn Master

The weekend of October 1-2, the Barcelona Finn Master was held as organized by the Real Club Náutico de Barcelona (RCNB). It was a return 40 years in the making, as the Finn Class came back to a Club that has always been linked to this class and at which the first Finns in the country began to sail.

The RCNB has a significant number of active Finnists, including Olympian Gerardo Seeliger, former president of the Finn Class and recent runner-up of Spain Finn Class in the Legend category. Altogether, a total of 20 Finnists participated in the competition: a resounding success of participation.

The Race Committee managed to complete a total of five rounds – three on Saturday and two on Sunday. The participants competed in harsh wind conditions.

The first day started with sun and southwest wind with intensities of 8-9 knots, which as the day went on intensified to 15 knots, and the wind was accompanied by a strong current that tested the sailors. Xavier Penas in the Noemi prevailed in the regattas of the day with two first and one second (1-2-1). Redbullet of Juan Grau (4-1-6) was positioned in second position and closed the Silver Fox locker of Xavier Mayoral (7-3-2).

On Sunday the conditions were again challenging, with strong southwesterly winds that reached 22 knots and forced the Finnists to demonstrate all their experience and skills. Two of the three planned races were completed. Xavier Penas won both heats and was proclaimed winner of the regatta.
