2025 Barcelona J/70 Spring Series Champions Crowned
On May 12, 2025, the Canary Islands’ HSN Sailing Team was crowned overall winner of the 2025 Barcelona Spring Series in the J/70 class, after dominating all three events hosted by Real Club Náutico de Barcelona. With a total of 42 points, the team led by Javier Padrón delivered a flawless season in Barcelona waters, outperforming a competitive national and international fleet.
HangTen-Hnos. Berga, skippered by Món Cañellas, secured second place with 71 points, while Baleària-Team RCNP climbed to third overall with 120 points thanks to a strong performance in the final event.
Despite initially unfavorable forecasts, Barcelona offered a spectacular weekend of sailing. Ideal wind conditions allowed the race committee, led by Pere Sarquella, to complete all 12 scheduled races, providing a thrilling conclusion to the Barcelona Spring Series.
The third and final event was marked by a fierce battle between Noticia, HSN Sailing Team, and HangTen-Hnos. Berga, with teams such as Diva (Germany), Cobra, Baleària-Team RCNP, and Bodegas Can Marlès also contesting top finishes and showcasing the high level of competition across the fleet.
With the Barcelona Spring Series concluded, the national J/70 season continued with the Atlantic Championship in Vigo on May 13–14, followed by the prestigious BMW Conde de Godó Trophy in Barcelona (May 30 – June 1), which will once again include the Women’s Cup for all-female teams sailing in J/70s.
June brings another major event: the Spanish Championship in La Coruña, June 13–15, followed by the Spanish Cup in Barcelona, October 3–5. Both regattas are key to the national ranking that will determine Spain’s representatives at the 2026 J/70 World Championship in Cascais, Portugal, hosted by Clube Naval de Cascais.
