Sandringham yacht club

Melbourne (Sandringham), Victoria, Australia

Sandringham Yacht Club’s history can be traced back to the Port Phillip Yacht Club (PPYC), which was originally established in 1903 adjacent to the current public jetty. The present day club burgee was the original burgee of the old PPYC, founded at Picnic Point in 1903.  Situated on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay, the Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) is Melbourne’s premier sailing club, presenting world class sporting and event facilities right on the water’s edge.  SYC’s current Membership is 2,500 members

Our 340 berth floating marina, boating academy, waterfront support services, newly built clubhouse and reciprocal privileges with yacht clubs worldwide, offers Melbourne sailors an incomparable membership opportunity. Whether you’re an experienced hand or exploring a new venture to discover the sea, SYC welcomes you.

SYC members enjoy a lively club atmosphere thanks to year round industry events, boating activities and sailing regattas. Our a la carte restaurant offers a special dining experience with picturesque views across the bay, as do our Members’ Lounge and Members’ Bar where you can sit and relax with a wine or coffee.
Boating programs and competition sailing
Weekend racing and junior coaching programs combined with local and international regattas have firmly established SYC’s reputation as one of the best sailing clubs in Australia. Keelboat racing takes to the bay up to four times a week, providing wonderful social and skill development opportunities for everyone, while the Off the Beach Sailing Centre focuses on dinghy sailing opportunities through a structured pathway and highly active sailing program. We also frequently run relaxed lunch cruises and fishing competitions for everyone to enjoy.

Our exceptional restaurant, lounge, bar and function rooms are all strategically positioned on the second floor of the clubhouse, allowing for uninterrupted and sweeping bay views from every standpoint. At the Harbour View Restaurant guests enjoy a relaxed, stylish dining room setting with unrivalled views, sophisticated menus presenting only the freshest seafood and local produce in a more traditional dining experience. Our Members’ Bar is a glorious setting for a quiet drink and relaxed meal.
