Showing the way to sail MORE!
St Francis Yacht Club published this brief article to inform sailors how to build their sailing activity and maximize club enjoyment.
I DON'T OWN A BOAT.  HOW CAN I SAIL MORE?
YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. WE HAVE ANSWERS.

STEP 1:
Post a crew-available notice at stfycclassifieds.com
STEP 2: Sign up for Race Committee at stfyc.com/racecommittee

No foolin’. Our case study is a new-in-town twentysomething. He posted on Crew Finder in late 2016 and soonfound himself cruising the Bay on a sizable keelboat, whoseskipper advised him to sign up for Race Committee. He didthat. He showed up. He met people.
His report: “Crew Finder worked. The phone rang. I went sailing.”Later, while serving on Race Committee, our young man met someone who introduced him to sailing a J/120 out of South Beach, and then it was a boat out of Corinthian. At last report, while on Race Committee, he had met none other than Bill Helvestine and out of that came his first ocean races, Monterey–Santa Barbara in the Coastal Cup and Santa Barbara–San Diego in the SoCal 300, on Bill's Santa Cruz 50,Deception.True story.

Time on Race Committee is a learning experience and an essential giveback. It’s also a networking tool extraordinaire. And Crew Finder posts are free, like parking at St. Francis Yacht Club.  Just sayin'.
